Cutting down and burning trees to make way for new farm land is not such a cool idea! WCAFI's clean air goal aims to combat deforestation which is responsible for approximately 20 percent of greenhouse gas emissions (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
The damage caused by deforestation has two devastating effects: the earth's ability to absorb CO2 is reduced, and at the same time large amounts of stored carbon and methane are released into the atmosphere.
