Firstly I must apologize for the slow progress but the month of August is a notoriously slow period in Europe with the vast majority of us taking holidays in this month. That said we have been busy finalising updates to the WCAFI website that will put us in a position to start properly marketing the Clean Air Tree Kit. If all goes well the first week of September will see the first round of what will become regular additions to the features and facilities available to our partners and supporters.
Some of the features that will be released next week include a fuller and more rounded tree registration process, with a proper membership area that allows users to login and maintain their tree details, map positioning of the trees and also the first version of our tree widget. The widget will clearly show the progress of the initiative by the number of trees we have collectively planted to date. We have also been tackling some interesting issues that have occurred with the latest browser from Microsoft as well as tiding up inconsistencies with other browsers.
Along with the website feature enhancements we have also employed a great copywriter to help collate our content. Vikki Chowney has worked with Oxfam and other charities and has been helping reshape our message to make it clearer and more effective.
Once the content updates and new features are live we intend to release details to the press, blogosphere and embark on a social media campaign. We will be contacting our existing tree kit owners, supporters and everyone that’s registered interest shortly telling them of the enhancements and how to continue their involvement with the initiative.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our supporters, partners and everyone involved in the initiative for their patience.
